WHO ARE WE?
The American Aligner Society was founded on the premise that the use of clear aligners is undoubtedly the future of orthodontic treatment. With membership opening in the Spring of 2018, our diplomats, fellows and members will be made up of orthodontists and general dentists, who fully embrace aligner treatment and offer it as part of their orthodontic services. We believe there is no singular brace or aligner system which offers the ideal solution for every orthodontic situation. Most often, it involves a combination of both.
It is, therefore, the purpose of our Society to promote best clinical uses of clear aligners or braces from our members.
The AAS will strive to offer the best treatment protocols and best pricing options to the public. No singular orthodontic lab should dictate patient care or pricing. We strongly promote clear aligner treatment as an excellent option to manage dental issues such as ‘access to care,’ but only if licensed dental professionals are involved in the direct line of patient care and actual patient treatment.
Allowing an orthodontic lab to directly or indirectly influence or deliver orthodontic treatment is not only unethical and illegal, but it is also never in the best interest of the public. For that reason alone, the American Aligner Society was formed to regain control of orthodontic treatment, and to protect our profession as a whole.
